Rutshelle Guillaume crowned « best artist of the year 2021»

The year 2021 has been one of the worst periods for the Haitian population because of this unprecedented socio-political crisis. But the trendy Haitian Music Industry and the cultural sector in general were spoiled by the diva Rutshelle Guillaume who took over her throne this year with rigor and elegance.

With the release of her album Quoi Qu’il Advienne (QQA) on which there are 3 videos, her nomination with the Cameroonian artist Salatiel for the “Best duo or group” prize for the AfrimAwards 2021, not to mention an excellent Live performance on social networks at the end of November and her nomination in two categories of the “African Talent Awards” event, Rutshelle claims and remains “the best artist” for the year 2021, all categories combined according to the editorial staff of Mag Haiti.

It all started at the beginning of the year with the conquest of the African continent by the Haitian singer. Indeed, Rutshelle had announced on the web her collaboration with the African star Salatiel to then unveil the video “Good Girl“, February 5, 2021. This clip reached 1 million views on YouTube in a week and reached the bar of 5 million currently. Thanks to this collaboration that the two artists were nominated for the All African Music Awards, in the category “Best duo or group”. All Africa Music Awards also called AFRIMA, is an annual awards event, to recognize and showcase musical works, talent and creativity on the African continent while promoting African cultural heritage.

On June 11, Rutshelle Guillaume released her third solo album called Quoi Qu’il Advienne (QQA), which contains 15 tracks, mixing konpa music and Afro-Caribbean sound. This product proves that the singer has matured while exploring new markets such as the Caribbean, the African continent, Europe and the world of La Francophonie. Only a few days after its release, QQA was a huge success on streaming platforms like Audiomack, Soundcloud, Amazon Music, Apple Music, YouTube Music, D’Music, Spotify, Deezer…

On June 18, 2021, to promote her new album, Rutshelle released the first clip “M pa la anko”, which currently exceeds the 6 million views mark on YouTube, 76 000 Like, over 13 600 comments and 0 Contrary. These statistics are truly impressive; they reflect the connection and solidarity of the audience with the artist.

After just 10 days, QQA became the # 1 best-selling digital album on the Amazon Music International charts for the week June 21-27. The music “Lost Without You” entered Itunes Top 200 tracks France Word Chart, then in the Top 300 on Deezer all categories combined in the United States, to then be placed # 1 album Worldwide on iTunes for five (5) consecutive days. The album was a hit on streaming platforms for two (2) entire months, and each exceeded the million listeners mark. It’s a huge success for the diva.

In this moment of glory, the singer also had dark hours, because her brother who is also her godfather, Maxnold Guillaume, was among the victims of Delmas 32 massacre, on the night of Tuesday 29 to Wednesday 30 June 2021. More this tragedy did not completely weaken the limelight though, as she is esteemed for her courage and determination. Hence its nickname “The rebel”.

On July 28, 2021, the singer released the second video from her new album called “All on Me” in collaboration with rapper Wendy. The clip has been viewed nearly 3 million times on YouTube at the time of writing, with 65 000 Like, 0 Contrary, and over 14,000 comments.

On the evening of November 25, Rutshelle Guillaume delighted her admirers in a live show that she affectionately called QQA live. In an unparalleled atmosphere, she reinterpreted her album QQA with such intensity, that she “reconfirmed” her place in the ranking of the most popular singers in Haiti. The video has been viewed over 357 000 times on Facebook, 17,000 Like and over 29,000 comments. From this Live directed by Smitty of Trillion Productions, 12 more clips were extracted there and posted to YouTube afterwards. The statistics are breathtaking.

Her popularity also grow on social networks, with more than 1.3 M fans on Facebook, more than 1.5 M subscribers on Instagram, 464K followers on Twitter and 294K subscribers on Youtube.

Besides her performances on the international scene and statistics that escape our vigilance, Rutshelle Guillaume is the most successful and complete Haitian artist for the year 2021 for the MAGHAITI Media Group, all categories combined.
