The 10 Most Influential Young Haitians in 2020

Active on all social networks and blogs, nowadays, influencers are being considered as new stars of the web which can be a real opportunity for brands to promote products. In Haiti, a lot of young people on the internet are taking over this new career. They are followed by a large fashion and trendy community.

The editorial staff of MAGHAITI Media Group presents the 10 most influential young Haitians of the year 2020, based on the accomplishments of some young people under 35 years old, during the current period. Very popular on social networks, they have exerted a certain positive influence over the youth during this year marked by the coronavirus pandemic that has changed our way of life for the past year.

Melchie Daëlle Dumornay (17-years-old), better known as Corventina, is a young 17-year-old footballer from the Haitian women’s national team. She was brilliant in the elimination phase of the U17 World Cup, suspended by FIFA because of the coronavirus. This year she won the Golden Shoe of the Concacaf U20 Women’s Championship with 14 goals in six games. It is the reward for the best scorer of the women’s championship of the Concacaf U20 played in Dominican Republic. Corventina was ranked 5th in the Top 10 of the Goal sports newspaper “The 10 Wonders of Women’s Football”. Her talent and dedication have influenced many young people.

Mike Bellot (27-year-old): After the presentation of the Solo Bag, the trendy and energy-generating backpack, the CEO of Solo Group introduced a functional prototype of the “Mask Solo” to combat the spread of coronavirus. In addition to protecting you against viruses, this mask is equipped with a Bluetooth headset, an integrated microphone and an electric ventilation system. Last October, he received the Meaningful Business100 award for the year 2020, this award annually recognizes 100 business leaders from around the world who combine profit and social impact as factors in helping to achieve the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. That same month, he also won the “King’s Prize” from the Municipality of Cap-Haitian, during the Municipal Forum on Youth Entrepreneurship.

Ralph Tedy Erol (26-year-old): He is the only 2019 nominee to appear in MAGHAITI’s 2020 classification. The country has experienced a lot of socio-political turmoil this year, and each time the public could count on Ralph Tedy Erol to sum up the street movements in pictures. Although, quite often his positions on political issues are not unanimous on social networks, his professionalism and courage are praised by the general public.

Farah Délance Linot (31-years-old): The young social worker received on August 19th, the Best humanitarian award 2020 to honor her dedication and commitment to humanitarian work. On December 8, 2020, she received The President Service Volunteer Award from Drug Free America, one of the largest awards in the United States, which honors individuals whose service has a positive impact on communities across the country and also inspires those around them to take action.

Buteau Jean Garmel (12-years-old): After winning hands down the first edition of the “Christmas Caribbean” song contest in 2017, the young singer known as BGarmel was back on the music scene during the month of March 2020 with the hit song “Pwoteje Tèt ou”, motivating people to protect themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic. The clip has been viewed by more than 855 thousand people on YouTube. At the beginning of November, he collaborated with the singer K-dilak in the hit “Yo pa kapab ankò”. BGarmel gives his piercing voice to the street children who suffer martyrdom in Haiti, he speaks on behalf of these homeless people living day by day in a total indifference of society. The video has been viewed more than 2 million 500 times in just 1 month.

Jeff Veillard (27-years-old): Better known as Jeff Oka, he is a young comedian who has taken his place among the great Haitian comedians of this year. He started his career as “Fawouchè” in his neighborhood, but with no expectations beyond his products, his talent has conquered the social networks. He currently has over 181 thousand subscribers on Instagram, 33 thousand followers on Twitter and 26 thousand fans on Facebook. He draws his jokes from the alarming socio-economic reality of the country, hence the slogan “A demen si Bandi vle”, which means “ see you tomorrow, gangsters willing” straight out of his imagination. It is a true revelation of the year 2020.

D-Perfect (24 years old): The young artist R&B has been a huge success this year. With his real name Jameson Danger, the singer first made a name for himself by joining the new musical group called Ekip, where he enjoyed great visibility alongside Shabba and Steeve Khe, two former members of Djakout #1. Three months earlier, he appeared in Blondedy Ferdinand’s hit “Pou ou”. Since then, his popularity is definitely at its finest.

Aliyah Shipman (16-years-old): Aliyah Shipman is a young Taekwondo Athlete in the female category (-67) kg. Last March, she won her pass for the 2020 Olympic Games (postponed due to Coronavirus). This step is a first in the history of Taekwondo in Haiti.

Williamson Sintyl (26-years-old): The young humanitarian won the Mars Shot, a competition initiated by the United Arab Emirates with the comedian Kevin Hart as representative. Williamson was able to count on the vote of 2.3 million Haitian Internet users to move from the top 15 to the top 5, and thus earn a place among the three winners. With his “Arise” platform and thanks to the budgetary funds from the Emirates, he will make his dream come true by building a mentoring center in Haiti, more precisely in the South Department of Camp Perrin.

Zuzu girl (25 years old): Joseph Rachilde is a young comedian discovered in 2017. Since then, she multiplies humoristic videos that ignite the web. A true darling of Internet users, the future doctor embodies the character of a young Zuzu girl by chaining all kinds of coquetries. She raises awareness, entertains and educates, especially during the containment established in Haiti because of the Coronavirus.
